Pim Kramer

Foto Pim KramerPim Kramer is the female designer of the Studio Unicps label. She graduated in fashion design at the Academy of the Arts in Arnhem (Artez). Since 2001 Pim Kramer has her own design studio in the centre of Arnhem. Her experience as a free-lance designer led her to hone her skills in customizing and reinventing textiles and clothing, to design collections with an eye for the environment and identity. And also to set up workshops and courses for a variety of schools and centres.


Workshop, course, lectures and teaching

She has worked for primary schools, colleges, art academies and other organisations. Her projects and workshops have involved setting up (re-)design and customize programmes and activities. For TELEAC School television in developing televised kids workshops. Theme sessions for The Textile Museum in Tilburg. Activity for recycling centres and manifestations in Arnhem, Westervoort, Amsterdam and Deventer, Liemers College Zevenaar. ROC’s: The Hague, Leeuwarden, Utrecht, Tilburg, and Zutphen. AKI Academy of the Arts in Enschede. PABO, Bachelor programme for education.

For the The Dutch Youth and Environment Organisation (NJMO) Pim Kramer made the hand-out “How to Recycle and Customise Fashion”. This material is used for sustainable fashion projects for colleges.

Together with Jaq Volckmann she has given lectures on environment and sustainability in fashion. @ Mondiaal Café (Haarlem), SEM modecafé (WFC Amsterdam), Vrouwenraad (Utrecht). Art Academies: Artez (Arnhem), KABK (The Hague), Aki (Enschede), HWC (Amstelveen).

Her experience in this field and as a designer led her to be asked as a fashion and visual marketing teacher. Nowadays she also teaches textile knowledge at the Polytechnical College ROC Adventus in Zutphen.

Freelance styling and design experience

Pim Kramer started after graduation doing the styling, make-up and art direction on a wide range of projects. When the Unicps label was launched she began to include more of her own work and brand. Such as: Sta TV Art Magazine (Arnhem), Freestyle model agency (Amsterdam), Sens Dessus Dessous, Theatre Company Oost, Facet Oblong Publishers, Cartoon Exposition (Groningen), Bodypaint Expo (Hilversum), Arti-kul Artshop (Arnhem), KICI exposition (The Hague), Kromme Nieuwe Scene Theatre, 2-IZI videoclip, the movie “Ik ook van Jou” , Gelredome Glamourgirls, Brandless Magazine.

As a designer she has done various assignments, ridal and eveningwear, designs and styling. Some of the organisations she did assignments for are: gemeente Den Haag, Kindertelefoon (Gelderland), SKYworks (Arnhem), Arnhem Promotie, NJMO (Utrecht), KICI (The Hague), Het Goed (Emmeloord), Mensen in Nood (Den Bosch), Nationaal Comite Haarlem/ Yvonne van Gennip, Kunstzin/Sonsbeekfestivals (Arnhem), Millenium gifts: Gemeente Arnhem, Stadsregio Arnhem/Nijmegen. Some of the VIPs she has worked with are: Eddy Zoey (tv presenter and singer), Angela Schijf (actress), Yvonne van Gennip (former Olympic gold medallist), Joke de Cruijff (musical star), Eboya (singer), Thé Lau (singer/songwriter), Cool Region (Arnem/Nijmegen), HWC flag coat...

She styles the Unicps shows, fashion shoots and also all tv items about Unicps. Credits include: TV Oost “Jongbelegen”, Teleac “De Straat”, RTL4 “RTL-Live”, TROS “Lunch Café”, Net 5 “Beauty&zo”, RTL4 “Live&Cooking”, NPS “het Klokhuis”, TV Gelderland “Buitengewoon”, TV Gelderland “Talent van Gelderland” videoclip.

Studio Unicps Shows and presentations include: Valkhof Affaire (Nijmegen), Holland Fashion Trend Parade (WFC Amsterdam), Arnhem Promotion (Theatre & Church Square Arnhem) Luxor Theatre (Arnhem), Mixed Megafestatie (Jaarbeurs Utrecht), Dresscode 2000 (Utrecht), GANG (Arnhem), Kici-symposium (The Hague) Manhattan discotheek (Arnhem), Ecotech (Jaarbeurs Utrecht), Nationaal Comite Haarlem (Haarlem), Kici-2ndbest award show (The Hague), Peaceboat/Japan (WTC Amsterdam), The Catwalk (Sonsbeek, Arnhem), Sustainability Exposition (Emern, Germany), Holland-Arnhem Friendship Week 2007 (Wuhan, China), Open Days (European Parliament, Brussels), theological conference (Hoogeveen).

Together with Jaq Volckmann she designed ecological ready to wear collections: An ecological collection for Livos, Germany, in 2003; With Stoffkantor Kranz, Germany, they developed an ecological fashion line in 2004/2005. And they set up the first Dutch nettle line for Brennels which was launched in 2006.

Unic-Pieces Shop

The unic-piece collections sold were made up of unique—one of a kind—items and limited editions that were exclusively made in the Unicps studio. 1997-2003: Unicmoves, Jaq Volckmann’s geurilla fashion & art store’s in Arnhem and Amsterdam. In 2008 Pim Kramer started the unique pieces webshop.
